The goal of the Friends First Preschool Program is to provide children with disabilities a quality preschool program to prepare them for lifelong learning and transition to kindergarten, while meeting their individual special needs.
Using specialized curricula and an integration model, Morrison Center’s individualized early childhood services provide plentiful stimulation in all developmental areas. Lesson plans encourage growth for both typically developing and delayed learners, and provide for both early intervention and special education needs.
Children who attend Morrison’s early childhood programs are placed in one of several classrooms based upon their individual needs and learning styles:
- An integrated classroom, considered a 3:1 ratio (3 students to one teacher), which focuses on a typical preschool model and utilizes several curricula including the Creative and Owl
- The 1:1 classroom model which focuses on positive behavior for children with autism and/or multiple disabilities
- A classroom for children with multiple disabilities which provides intensive early intervention services utilizing a team approach of teachers and therapists
